GSCH Investigation Emergency Approval Resolution of 2007 |

On July 10, 2007, the Council approved the Greater Southeast Community Hospital Investigation Emergency Approval Resolution of 2007. Introduced by Councilmember Catania, this resolution authorizes the Council to conduct an investigation into patient safety and quality of care issues at Greater Southeast Community Hospital.
Pursuant to the resolution, any such investigation shall be chaired by the Chairperson of the Committee on Health - Councilmember Catania - and includes subpoena power authority.
Given the critical nature of this issue, the Council also passed an amendment to the Council Period 17 Rules to allow the Committee on Health, in consulation with the Chairmain of the Council, to conduct hearings and roundables for purposes of such an investigation.
