Catania Elected Chair Of National Legislative Association On Prescription Drug Prices Print E-mail
Washington, D.C. - On Friday, Councilmember David Catania was unanimously elected to Chair the National Legislative Association on Prescription Drug Prices (NLARx) at the group’s annual meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire. Catania, who previously served as the Vice-Chairman, said he was honored and looks forward to continue advancing the case against the pricing practices of the pharmaceutical industry.

“The pharmaceutical industry has arguably the best financed lobbying operation in history,” explained Catania. “They spend more money marketing their drugs and peddling influence than they spend developing and testing new medicines.”

NLARx is a 501c(4) non-profit consisting of elected members of 20 state legislatures from Arizona to Maine who are committed to working across state lines to make prescription drugs more affordable and accessible to people in the United States. Catania will serve with Delegate Don Perdue of West Virginia (Vice Chair), Senator Kevin Mullin of Vermont (Secretary), and Representative Anne Perry of Maine (Treasurer).

“I am excited to lead this important and influential group of legislators,” said Catania. “NLARx is one of the most powerful voices for providing affordable access to prescription drugs.”

In addition to electing new leadership, legislators at the meeting heard presentations on pharmaceutical marketing and advertising, reimportation, detailing, and federal legislation. Details on the meeting will be posted at the NLARx website, http://www.nlarx.org. Press inquires concerning the meeting should be directed to NLARx Executive Director Sharon Treat ( This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it ).
