The Committee on Health held four budget hearings and received testimony from citizens, advocates and representatives from the Department of Health, the Department of Mental Health and the new Department of Health Care Finance regarding the FY 2009 budget. After considering this testimony and carefully reviewing the Mayor's FY 2009 budget request, the Committee made the following recommendations: The Committee’s FY09 budget recommendation for the Department of Health is $272,545,000, a $1,397,000 increase from the Mayor’s FY09 request. This includes: - $99,808,000 in local funds
- $14,375,000 in Special Purpose funds
- $21,266,000 in Intra-District funds, and
- $137,096,000 in federal funds
The Committee’s FY09 budget recommendation for the Department of Mental Health is $231,835,000, which is no change from the Mayor’s FY09 request. This includes: - $213,183,000 in local funds
- $3,808,000 in Special Purpose funds
- $9,281,000 in Intra-District funds, and
- $5,563,000 in federal funds
The Committee’s FY09 budget recommendation for the Department of Health Care Finance is $1,813,228,000 a $4,438,000 increase from the Mayor’s FY09 request. This includes: - $604,478,000 in local funds (including dedicated taxes)
- $1,977,000 in Special Purpose funds
- $1,195,258,000 in federal funds, and
- $11,515,000 in Intra-District funds
