Catania Featured in Documentary at Tribeca Film Festival |

“Outrage” Exposes Hypocrisy of Closeted Anti-Gay Politicians
Washington, D.C. - Today, Councilmember David Catania will be featured in OUTRAGE, a documentary film directed by Academy Award nominated film maker and director Kirby Dick. The film examines the D.C. political arena and offers a searing indictment of closeted politicians with anti-gay rights voting records. It also explores the harm they have inflicted on millions of gay families across the nation. OUTRAGE was chosen as the featured documentary project in the Tribeca Film World Documentary Feature Competition.
“I am honored to be part of this important film,” said Catania. “The documentary will explore a delicate issue but one whose time has come. This country can no longer tolerate the hypocrisy of closeted public officials who use their positions to inflict enormous harm on gays and lesbians and their families.”
Catania will be in New York for OUTRAGE’s world premiere tonight at the School of Visual Arts Theater. He will also be on-hand for the Washington, D.C. premiere scheduled for Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 7 p.m. at the E Street Cinema located at 555 11th Street, N.W.
The Tribeca Film Festival, founded in 2002 by Robert DeNiro and Jane Rosenthal, was a response to the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and the loss endured in the Tribeca area of Manhattan. The festival’s mission is to celebrate New York City as a major contributor to the filmmaking industry and to continue the long-term recovery of the Tribeca neighborhood.
