During its three budget hearings, the Committee on Health heard over 20 hours of testimony from citizens, advocates, and representatives from the Department of Health, the Department of Mental Health, and the Department of Health Care Finance regarding the FY10 budget. After considering this testimony and carefully reviewing the Mayor's FY 2010 budget request, the Committee made the following recommendations:
The Committee’s FY10 budget recommendation for the Department of Health is $250,650,000, a $196,000 increase from the Mayor’s FY10 request. This includes:
- $82,382,000 in local funds,
- $13,782,000 in Special Purpose funds,
- $135,460,000 in Federal funds,
- $319,000 in private funds, and
- $18,707,000 in Intra-District funds.
The Committee’s FY10 budget recommendation for the Department of Mental Health is $216,752,000, which is no change from the Mayor’s FY10 request. This includes:
- $200,712,000 in local funds,
- $4,424,000 in Special Purpose funds,
- $7,289,000 in Federal funds,
- $117,000 in private funds, and
- $4,209,000 in Intra-District funds.
The Committee’s FY10 budget recommendation for the Department of Health Care Finance is $2,083,215,000 a $196,000 decrease from the Mayor’s FY10 request. This includes:
- $487,727,000 in local funds (including $28,764,000 in dedicated taxes),
- $1,823,000 in Special Purpose funds,
- $1,538,201,000 in Federal funds, and
- $26,700,000 in Intra-District funds.
