Film Featuring D.C. Councilmember Investigates Lives of Closeted Anti-Gay Politicians
Washington, D.C. – On Monday, OUTRAGE a documentary featuring Councilmember David Catania (At-Large) will make its television debut on the Home Box Office (HBO) channel. OUTRAGE is directed by Academy Award nominee Kirby Dick. The film exposes the hypocrisy of closeted public officials and their opposition to gay rights. It also highlights the harm they have inflicted on millions of gays and lesbians and their families across the nation.
“I am honored to be part of this important film and am pleased that HBO has purchased the broadcast rights to show it,” said Catania. “This country can no longer tolerate the hypocrisy of closeted public officials who use positions of influence to inflict harm on gays and lesbians and their families.”
OUTRAGE was selected as the featured documentary project at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival in April. It premiered in theatres on May 8, 2009, including the E Street Cinemas located in the District.
