“OUTRAGE” investigates lives of closeted anti-gay policymakers
Washington, D.C. - Today, Councilmember David Catania (At-large) will be featured in OUTRAGE, a documentary film directed by Academy Award nominated film maker and director Kirby Dick. The film exposes the hypocrisy of closeted public officials and their opposition to gay rights. It also highlights the harm they have inflicted on millions of gays and lesbians and their families across the nation.
“It was an honor to be apart of this film,” said Catania. “The timeliness of this documentary is important as the gay community engages in the battle for marriage equality. This country can no longer tolerate the double-standards imposed by closeted policymakers who vote against pro-gay legislation in an attempt to denounce the truth about their sexuality. For too long, these policymakers have caused enormous harm to the gay community in an attempt to denounce the truth about their own sexuality.”
OUTRAGE was selected as the featured documentary project at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival in April. The documentary will air on HBO on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
