Committees To Examine Cancer Screening Programs Print E-mail
WASHINGTON, D.C. - Councilmembers David Catania (At-Large) and Sandy Allen (Ward 8) will hold a joint meeting of their Public Services and Health and Human Services Committees Wednesday, October 6, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. in the Wilson Building's 4th floor Chamber (Room 412).

The joint roundtable has been called to look into the District of Columbia Department of Health's administration of federal grants. The Committees will specifically question District officials and private health providers about cancer screening grants that went unspent because of Department of Health mismanagement.

Individuals expected to testify include: The Department of Health's Interim Director Herbert Tillery and Senior Deputy Director of Medical Affairs Karyn Berry. Dr. John J. Lynch, Chairman of the DC Cancer Consortium; and GWU Cancer Institute's Francisco Semiao, Director of Outreach and Education and Dr. Donald Henson, Co-director, Office of Cancer Prevention and Control (OCPC) will also make presentations.
